The course is part of a resort called Carton House. It has been designed by the charismatic Scottish player Colin Montgomerie. As a good Scotsman, he showed definite talent for course architecture, particularly for the strategic aspects marked by very particular care taken over the bunkers, often very deep. Water is in play on the 1st and 18th holes and the greens are well protected, often sharply contoured. There is another good course on the resort, The O’Meara, designed by the famous American player, Marc O’Meara. |
